We primarily hire forensic engineering consultants who hold a Professional Engineering license and have experience in failure analysis for personal injury cases, particularly those with experience as an expert witness for depositions and trials.
Specific backgrounds can include civil engineering, electrical engineering, fire safety, construction management, and/or home inspection.
Job responsibilities as a consultant include:
- Communicating (in-person, telephone, email, and/or fax) with clients (mainly personal injury attorneys)
- Communicating (in-person, telephone, email, and/or fax) with injured parties at inspection sites
- Inspecting and photographing sites where incidents occurred
- Faxing or emailing measurements from inspections to management. For example: height and slope of rooftop from which construction worker fell.
- Reviewing expert witness reports prepared and written by Technical Writer and signing reports
- On an ad hoc basis, participate in depositions and trials as an Expert Witness
